OT:Ball bowler gutter color

I have a united ball bowler i'm working on and would like to know the
best way to refinish the gutters. They seem to be painted or color
washed where some of the wood grain is still visible. Any advice or tips
on how to make this look close to original wood be great. Thanks,KJ
