Sorry to keep banging on about NL not working but could it be that I
have a AMD64 processor and my daughter has AMD 32. Also there is a
patch for NL listed on the sims site but one gets a 404 when we try to
download it.

Glamour Stuff really put me off getting that type of disc and it gave
my daughter problems as well. So it will go in the bin.

No, NL works on AMD 64 processors.

Works fine on my AMD64. [a puny little Sempron 2800+ @ 1.6GHz - still
waaaaaaaaaay better than my old VIA C3/Ezra @ 800MHz (but since VIA
crippled the FPU in it to keep the heat down even my brother's 333MHz
Celeron was able to out-perform it :P)]
