Theater of Magic-Price & Opinions

Hi all , looking to pick up a ToM for what seems to be a decent
price-2600.00 and I'll drive 125miles +/- to pick up. No issues
mechanically playfield is very nice, not insert wear, trunk is beat,
will need replacing. Cab is OK other than a few very small rubs on the
sides. Overall, very nice, but here's the issue...I haven't played one
of these since they came out in the '90's. I remember liking the theme
and the lighting and colors appealed to me. What has time said about
this machine? Thanks for any input! Doc

Time says I'll pick it up at that price

This is the game that brought me into the madness that is the pinball
hobby. It will always have a soft spot in my heart for that reason.
Might be my all time fave DMD title.

That being said, I have been personally reluctant to own one because I
find it perhaps too easy. Very long games and ball times. Not enough
challenge I worry to maintain my love affair with the title in a home
collection. A lot of people on here seem to think the wizard mode is
lacking as well- I don't necessarily share that opinion.

THAT being said, it is a beautiful game. Great art package all around.
Very flow-y. The shots are just SO SMOOTH. If you play a nice one, it
can feel like a million bucks just hitting those perfect shots one
after another. It's got magnets, it's got the spinning tiger saw if
you do the mod. Secret locks, trap door, Vanishing act- lots of neat
features. Dot work is good and sound/music suit the theme to a T. Good
game to play just to bat the ball around or to really play through and
perform all the tricks, etc etc

I give it my highest recommendation... if only it were a little more
challenging...

that's my two cents.

the price by the way is a good one. this title for whatever reason has
been steadily coming down over the last year or so. Used to be a
strong $3500-4K for a nice one. Now I'm seeing more in the $2500-3K
range. I am still kicking myself over passing up an absolutely
gorgeous example for only $3K not too long ago.

I have it in the collection! GREAT PIN! Grab it now while the prices
have come down. This game is deep, not easy and loaded with fun. Lots
of great shots!! It's in the top ten best pins!! $2600? Just an
opinion if the cabinet shows wear that knocks the asking price. It's a
buyers market. With gas at $4 people are will to sell pins. Good luck.
It's a great game!!!

Great machine, I picked a very nice one up in the same price range but
a tad higher. Based on looks the machine when shopped and clean is
stunning. It's a flow game and fast. Not the most punishing game but
fun and a favorite of the wife and visitors.Mine sits next to Shadow
so once I take an ass beating on Shadow its over to TOM for a more
relaxing game. You can rack up some major points but I have only hit
the wizard mode once and it drained quickly (bummer). Go for it!

Re: Theater of Magic-Price & Opinions

Long ball times with high scores. A feel good game with good flow,
sound efects and animation. All around nice game, family friendly and
a good price. Go for it.

The trunk is no big deal. I am putting my third one on tonight but I
will take advice given a few day ago on how to put it on to make it
last. (Do a search).
