Now that I've evolved the trickiest Pokémon (I now have almost all the
evolutions possible so far, including Roserade, and that only leaves 27
Pokémon to go for the Sinnoh Dex - and I assume that at least five of those
will be legendaries, leaving Heracross, Munchlax and Snorlax, Honchkrow and
Mismagius, Lucario, and random Pokémon not available until later.

So, I've finally chosen my team. It's not big, and it's not clever, but I
wanted to know how well you lot think it'll fare later in the game.

TORTERRA
Razor Leaf/Earthquake/Bite/Leech Seed

INFERNAPE
Flamethrower/Close Combat/Feint/Mach Punch

EMPOLEON
Surf/Metal Claw/Brine/Peck

GIRAFARIG
Psybeam/Assurance/Baton Pass/Stomp

STARAPTOR
Fly/Aerial Ace/Close Combat/Double Team

MACHAMP
Submission/Vital Throw/Revenge/Seismic Toss

So far, Machamp's the Pokémon I'm unhappiest with. Does he never learn
anything but Fighting attacks?

But all of them have yet to reach a finished moveset, of course. Plenty
need stronger versions of what they already have.

I also need an Ice move somewhere. I'll probably give Empoleon Ice Beam
over Brine, assuming he can learn it. But I may just replace Machamp with
something instead.

So, any thoughts? Anything coming up in the Elite Four I'm not able to
counter?

By all means replace Machamp. You have a fighting type in Infernape,
with Staraptor having a fighting move as well. I don't think I even
used a fighting move (I had Staraptor too, but mine had defog over
Double Team), but I could be wrong.

You need and Ice move desparately and I think Electric. You can heal
after the battle with your Rival (we will start there), and change
pokes if you choose. I choose to level up, the fight wasn't as easy
as I like it to be.

He has Normal/Flying, Fighting/Bug, Normal; Water, Fire, (you said you
picked Piplup, right?) and Grass/Ground. I guess you are covered (so
long as you put Ice Beam somewhere). I still like Electric to
preserve Ice Beam.

E4 #1 you look good for .
E4 #2 you look good for .
E4 #3 you look good for.
E4 #4 you look good for.
+1 (besides Ice?) you look OK for, but Spiritomb has no weaknesses and
has Pressure, make sure you have enough Leppa berries and/or ethers/
elixirs.

Good point - I hadn't actually made the connection between their
Fighting moves and Machamp being unnecessary.

So, what Ice or Electric type would you recommend? I've got a Luxray
that I quite like, and she could be levelled up quickly to match the
rest. I'm quite interested in Weavile - how does one evolve Sneasle?
And is Weavile actually any good?

What's Spiritomb's stats like? Particularly its defenses.

(Also, I wonder if Staraptor can get Foresight - take advantage of
Dark's weakness to Fighting ...)
