I've found info for anyone who's interested:

has a ton of demos and the page seems to be updated almost hourly for q3
demos ctf and 1vs1 osp, to hl etc.
For GTV the best thing I've found is the All Seeing Eye Program, open the
'Other' folder at the bottom under quake 3, then go to 'Version' and click
the GTV box and refresh it. Arrange the servers in order by the # of
players and usually if there are people in those servers there's a live game
going on that you can watch.
