View Full Version : Global Hack to Prevent Autonomous Romance

I couldn't find anything via Google - no surprise since I've never been
any good at refining my seraches - so that leaves here:

Are there any global hacks out there to supress autonomous romantic
interactions? (or at least limit them to only being allowed between
married couples?) Something simple, not like that rather confusing mess
known as ACR which, from what I've read when I considered trying it,
takes an insane amount of micromanagement to get things right...

The new ACR has a "With Spouse Only" option
I knew it can have a lot to set up, but, (imho) it's worth it :)

No it doesn't. It's a lot easier than the documentation would lead you to
believe. Just install it, go into a house in a neighborhood, spawn the
adjuster (by clicking on a sim) and set up the neighborhood. I'm not sure
if there is a way to set the entire neighborhood with tokens to prevent
autonomous romance actions (and frankly, I can't think of a reason why you'd
want to -- that's half the game right there) but you can certainly set the
token for each sim to "spouse only". It will only take a second on each lot
(you'll have to spawn the adjuster on each lot) but you only have to do it
once.

Why in the world would you want to suppress it? There are jealousy hacks
out there if you are having trouble with that, including one that makes the
whole jealousy thing a lot more sane by not allowing simple flirting to
trigger the "got caught cheating" memory and reaction. You can control what
happens on the house lot but not on community lots, so you can either avoid
community lots altogether or just let stuff happen and deal with the curves
the game sometimes throws you. That's what makes it a game, isn't it? <g>

Personally, I love the automous romance. I had one sim going through
college and I would let him go on his own now and then. One time I saw him
kiss a girl that I had never even directed him to talk to. I look at their
relation and it was like 85+ or something, I guess they just clicked. Ya,
wound up having them get married.
