Likewise I'd wait just a bit.
Currently Intel has a bit of an edge, but I'm waiting until AMD comes
out with their next step in late Winter or early spring. Then I'll
decide if my next machine is Intel or AMD.

I just finished an Athlon FX64 dual core with a core speed of 2800
auto OCd to 3000 to 3100 core speed. It's about 3X faster than my
older single core.
At present it's considerably cheaper than the Intel. Mo board,
processor, and 4 Gig of DDR2 (PC 6400 RAM) were about the price of the
Intel CPU alone. When the next step comes at AMD I expect to see the
Intel prices drop so I'd wait for that as it's probably only a couple
months away. Either way you save money and end up with more choices.
maybe even the graphics cards will have come down some more as well.
