I just installed a new cap kit on my Sanyo 20-Z2AW monitor. After
firing it up I get a beautiful picture except the top 1 inch of the
screen appears to be scrunched into a millimeter sized line. Not sure
how to explain it. Did I install a cap wrong? Did i reverse polarity
somewhere? What the heck are my options?

Sounds like "foldover." Does it appear that the topmost portion of the
screen is rolled over onto itself? If so, that's a common problem with
these monitors.

Double-check the following capacitors:

C407 10 microfarad, 160 volts
C410 100 microfarad, 160 volts

Make sure the polarity is correct on these.

Yeah, i'd say it appears folded over. How can I check the polarity on
these capacitors if I already cut the long lead? I have no way of
telling which side is + and which is - now.

Look for arrows down one side of the cap indicating the negative lead.

Thank you. I'll check that tomorrow. Its too much of a pain in the
ass to take it all apart again tonight. I hope its a simple issue.

Well you were right on. C407 for some reason had 3 holes in the board
instead of two and I guess i inserted the positive lead into the wrong
hole. After switching it and putting everything back together I now
have a perfect Popeye game. Thanks!

Now this should be nominated for Post of the Month! This is what this
board is all about. Nice Job Matt!
