View Full Version : Tech on Stern Hot Hand
Hello, could someone direct me in the right direction for a issue with
my Hot Hand. The problem is with the top rotating flipper arm. Once
the game starts it wont rotate without me giving it a little touch. I
took it apart and cleaned and re-oiled the correct areas and it still
hangs up. Once it starts to go it is very easy to stop the rotation
with my finger. So I figure maybe a power supply problem? What little
paper work I have on it doesnt even address the flipper arm. I took
off the relay and cleaned it (it was alittle warm) but that didnt do
any good, the extra relay that I had in my tool box wont fit because
the tabs are too small. Does it sound like it could be the relay?
Thanks in advance. If I find the problem I will repost. billd

Sounds like a motor problem to me. Check to see that
the motor is receiving the proper voltage first. Next, verify
that the motor bushings(bearings) are not too tight or worn
out.
Not much to that assembly and the motor is rather powerful.

Good call Fred, the problem was that who ever worked on it before must
of lost the proper screws and replaced them with ones about half the
diameter that is needed to keep the bearing centered. I replaced the
screws with ones that fit and it worked like a charm. Thanks again
