A buddy of mine was talking last night about maybe buying a NIB TSPP.
I was wondering if anyone here knows if Stern is going to be doing any
more runs of that title. Thanks!

I heard from a third party that they will be doing another run of
these in 2007. I would guess that with a Simpsons movie coming out
that may be correct, even though the game is not designed around the
movie.

Correct, another run in co-relation to the movie and then it will be
done.

(from what I heard from a reliable source a few months ago)

No disrespect to any of the posters to this thread, or any of their sources. But
the "final" run prediction on TSPP has been made on practically every run of
that game that has come out. And frankly, if you think about it, if you were
Stern you would want everyone interested in a title to clamor for the ones you
could sell today (versus waiting years and years for the 13th run). Kind of a
subtle "poop or get off of the pot" kind of strategy, which there is nothing
wrong with that in business.

If South Park is any indication I would expect runs of TSPP to go for several
more years. Heck, it's possible we'll see another run of South Park for that
matter! If that keeps them in business I'm all for it, but the true "last" run
of any title will be when Gary Stern decides it is. :-)

I thought there was a Whitestar/SAM compatibility issue. IS that not the
case and they can make any whitestar game they want on the new SAM platform?

There are two limitations outside Gary's control :

1. The Simpsons is licensed from 20th Century FOX. Rumor has it that
license is up. Gary could try to renew it but the decision is still up
to FOX.

2. The board set used in TSPP cannot be exported to Europe due to
environmental restrictions. Redesigning the game to use the new
boardset may be cost prohibitive. Gary can't change those laws.
