Hi
Does anyone know of any decent solitaire games that don't involve
building (ie. forming chains from A-K), as that bores the hell out of
he and all solitaire games traditionally seem to focus on that.
I'm not looking for software, I don't intend to play on a computer,
just the rules would be fine.
So far I've only found one sorta-enjoyable game here called spiralling
shape: http://www.pagat.com/invented/
Does anyone have suggestions?
Thanks!

Try Pyramid or Monte Carlo, or some of the other games in Douglas
Brown's book _150_Solitaire_Games_. Search for it at Amazon if you don't
own a copy.

Well, there's Cribbage Solitaire, Cribbage Squares, and Poker Squares
-- the rules to all of which can no doubt be found at the link above
(or in many solitaire books). Another that comes to mind is Cat's
Cradle. It kind of involves building, but not in the usual way.

Oh, and then there's Strategy -- where all the building is delayed.
You don't get to build at all during play, but you have to arrange
cards so that you can instantly build them all up at once when play is
done.
And, let's see -- Accordion doesn't really involve building either.
Nor does Aces Up.
Pyramid (and many similar games) don't involve building; you just
discard pairs of cards that add up to a certain number or match in some
way.
