I prefer Bride of Pinbot. It's pretty intense when you're scrambling
to make a shot on face four! The flashlamp sequences are awesome and
so is the sound! It's definitely a game to play with the volume way
up.
I like the matrix of targets on Pinbot.
Both games are fun but rather redundant. Pinbot is redundant because
you are basically trying to get him to see over and over again and
Bride of Pinbot because you make her come to life by shooting the left
ramp over and over again. Your mileage may vary as I have *mostly*
played the NES version of Pinbot...

I have both and I think BoP is probably the one that I prefer. Pinbot
is deceptively tough, though, and it can be frustrating. BoP has a lot
more going on, and if you say you don't like Jackbot, then BoP is
definitely the game for you, since P*B and J*B have the same
playfield. BoP is tough because the playfield is short - one shot into
one of the many bumpers that line the ramps and the ball is SDTM so
fast that you won't even see it go. But when you get into a rhythm
shooting ramps it's a beautiful thing. And both games have evil
outlanes. The billion shot is a challenge, tough to get both balls
relocked on the 4th face and then make it when the pressure is on. And
the far left ramp can be tough too, especially when 8 million is on
the line. But the lights and sounds are great, even better than
Pinbot's which aren't bad. When I got mine it was my first WPC and I
found it much easier to get it working than any of the system 11's I
had done because of the superior diagnostics and simplified
electronics. It's incredibly simple compared to Pinbot even though
Pinbot was an earlier system 11, before the backboxes and playfield
undersides got so packed with crap that you couldn't figure out what
the hell was wrong with them. Plus no more multiplexing on solenoids
and flashers, thank god. That can be a nightmare to diagnose and
repair, what with all the relay boards and extra wiring.
The key is, getting the extra ball every ball and carrying over the
skill shot multiplier - once I got it up to 29X. Not too bad getting a
5.8M skill shot. Plus if you get the multiplier up there for your
bonus you can get amazing bonuses - I got over 25M on one ball one
time. It's a game I always go back to, always a challenge and never
boring.

Pinbot = #1 for me.
Simple, mean and fun.

Don't forget about completing the solar system. Reaching the sun ain't
easy! (I've only done it once)

Pinbot is the better machine. Bride is a one-shot left-ramp-shooting
bore with super unbalanced scoring via the billion shot.
BUT, if you hated Jackbot, Pinbot is probably not for you. Jackbot is
Pinbot deluxe. An amazing "players" game, and one of my favorite pins
that I'll have back again one day! Based on your hate of Jackbot, I
would say that of those two Bride is your machine.

didnt you just get a Dr. Who? i would not suggest Pinbot since the MB
shots are the same.
In a modern lineup i would take Pinbot over BoP since the pinbot
sounds are great.

Do you think he actually still has the dr who?!
Anyhow I'd say BOP. I prefer it to Pinbot though I didn't till I'd
actually put some time into it. BOP is kind of a one shot game but it
has a really good playfield layout I think. It's very tight down at
the bottom, and I like all the mini loop shots. It's a tough game.
That being said why waste your Time Derek - it's basically a system 11
ruleset and you'll be bored the second you turn it on.
I like all three games but rank them as getting better each outing.

That has got to be one of the biggest misconceptions about the game,
that if you can shoot the shuttle ramp that's all you need to do. That
totally disregards the left loop which is necessary for the extra
ball, and the right loop which is necessary for the jackpot, and the
heartbeat ramp which is a great score builder, not to mention the far
left ramp which is pretty much bogus unless the jackpot is lit for 8M.
And even if it isn't up to 8M it's still a good score builder. And
getting it up the ramp to the pops is where the bonus building
happens. Sure, if you want to get the billion shot then you had better
be able to shoot the shuttle ramp, but that is far from the only thing
to shoot. People love to oversimplify and make shallow the features of
BoP, but they are missing out on the game when they do so. It's like
they can't see the freeway for the ramps.

If the billion shot didn't exist, then what you're saying would make a
lot of sense.
But who cares if you get a jackpot that's worth up to 8 million when you
could be shooting for the *billion*? In terms of points, NOTHING ELSE IN
THE GAME MATTERS since it's all worth at *least* one *thousand* times
less, sometimes one *million* times less than the billion!
"Hmmm, what should I go for? 300K, or ONE BILLION?" Duh, the billion!
"Shot I build up for the extra ball for the chance to collect max jackpot
of 8 million, or should I go for something worth 125x MORE in one shot by
going for ONE BILLION?" Duh, the billion!
BOP is one of those games that's just absolutely USELESS for any kind of
competitive play. If you're not shooting towards the billion, you're
just flat-out wasting time while playing.
If you're *not* playing it competitively, then sure wander around the
playfield and have fun. There's still something to be said for that. :)

Sure there's other things to do on the machine, but the point I was
making is if you're playing for points and not just killing time, the
Billion shot wrecks the game because it's SO over the top it's the
only thing you would shoot for. Everything else becomes just a missed
Billion shot.
