Hi All,
I just recently started playing Enemy Territory and I would say I'm
about mediocre at killing people. However, every now and then I come
across players who can kill me almost instantly, i.e. I hear about 2-4
shots and I'm dead. I just don't get it! My pings are just the same
as the other guys as well.

I even tried shooting someone point blank in the head and it takes 1-3
shots to take them down with a regular SMG. Can anyone let me know if
there some techniques to shooting -- besides the obvious of headshots
-- and dodging strategy?

Thanks for the help,
Ram

Not an expert but it seems the higher your XP the more hits you can take ,
try to play with the groups that save you XP , you usually see 'permanent
XP save' next to the groups name or something like that. Also I have heard a
few people use 'Aimbots ' .

Hmmm...didn't realize XP being worth that much. I always thought it
was the rankings (the skill level) that are the main sources of fixed
improvement. Our ET admin has XP save for 24 hrs so that isn't a big
issue. However, are there other ways to improve? i.e. better ways to
move, shoot, etc.

Thanks for the help,
Ram

The best way to improve is to practice. Learn the maps and understand the
primary objectives and the secondary objectives, it is better to go for the
secondary objective because everyone else is focused on the primary.
Quicker kills happen when you aim at the head, it is a smaller target but
once you improve your accuracy you will find it easier to take out the
enemy. Getting good at accuracy does tend to make people think you are
cheating with an aimbot, I have been kicked because the game administrator
either thought I was cheating or he was a sore loser.

As you gain XP you get to be "battle hardened" and can take more damage
before dying. You also get to perform your duties faster, as engineer you
can defuse bombs faster and plant mines faster; as a medic you can gain
faster healing and also carry more ammo. I like to take the team approach
rather than the prima donna act; the point is to help your team achieve the
objectives before the other. If you are a mediocre player, you can take the
hits and there by help your team mates; like using covering fire to protect
the engineer while he builds bridges.
