BF2 is just going/gone to shit,it used to be u could jump in and have a
resonable game somtimes whooping some ass and other times get ur ass whooped
but still have fun.Now all it takes is a couple of plane sluts(imature young
limited brain capacity noobs who do nothing but fly planes) to ruin a
perfectly good game. You know the type who will gun down their own team
members just to get the plane again.
Get a life dickheads.
EA in the next patch should up the grunt and place more of the AA guns just
to bring the game back into balance.

was such a good game ....bit of a shame it rooted now

Rant over

ps b4 the tiny brained plane whores say "just learn to fly better or bugger
off to special forces etc" i dont want to spend hours, days, months of my life
trying to master being able to hit a tank from half way across the map( like
most of u childish plane whore wimps have, come on u know u have) and i dont
realy like SF.

pps I know i have posted this in the 1942 group,i couldnt be bothered
looking for the BF2 group

ppps FYI my fave kit it the medic with the orignal gun.

He is Australian, so he is already off to a bad start as far as

When you meet an American talk to them very slowly, deliberately and
patronisingly and say "Your... English... is.. very... good....!" and smile.

a) This is Usenet, not SMS.
b) I avoid SMS wherever possible, it is the single worst method of
communication ever invented.
c) My friends are old enough to be able to communicate in English,
unlike kids like you who will never be able to string a coherent
sentence together and wonder why they can't get jobs.

Well, English aside, yes the game is becoming dominated by pilots again.
BF42 was mostly screwed because of this too. You could wander off in your
tank or jeep and check the map ten minutes later to find more than half your
team hanging around the airfield waiting for planes. But hey, realism means
that the airforce kicks ass, and does. Being on the ground sucks in the big
maps because of it but even though, there are so many ways to wreak revenge.
Personally, I love to hit copters with antitank rounds as they hover and try
to pick up a bloodless cap. Let loose the dogs of war! heh heh

How about some AA that actually works worth a damn. Give me the hand held,
none guided stingers from Desert Combat, and I'll give you a boat load of

I think it's sad when the best AA option is the 50 cal on the HUMVEEs and

Learning how to fly a jet and bomb a tank takes about a day. Hell, all you
go to do it go real high then dive down, soften the target up with your
gatling gun and then release your bombs so they land approx
together......its the splash damage from both bombs that will take out the
tank....no need to be precise.

Wanna know the best way to take down a jet? Get into one and get dogfighting
i.e. AFFIRMATIVE ACTION...NOT Usenet bitching.

The ground AA turrets only serve the purpose to scare jets away / give the
pilot a bloody nose.

You'll probably find most people CAN'T get in them due to half the team
standing around at the runways and chopper pads teamkilling anyone who walks
slightly close.

I chuckle when I see an astute enemy commander arty the airfield and mow
down the chopper and plane whores.

The only thing I ever see not being tolerated is being better then the
admin/s. This is the only thing in BF2 that will get you kicked. Cheating
is safer then killing someone more then once who has power. It is like
beating your boss at ANYTHING, it is unforgivable.

When you join a game, the first thing that comes up is the 'role' menu,
you know, Assault, Support, Medic, etc. I always hit caps-lock at that
point to see what the squad situation is.

The squad menu should be the first thing up to encourage squadding.

Oy! Don't tell everybody my super-sekrit way of fighting!!11eleven!

I especially love to see the enemies running to the supply crate I
dropped right in the middle of the runway - seconds before the arty
impacts :-)

I see people playing in squads all the time. But they're sadly playing
*in* squads, not *as* squads. You can lead them to the water, but you cant
make them drink it.

People not interested in teamplay still join squads just so they get the
extra mobile spawn point of their squad leader. They may not listen/follow
to their squad leader, and he may (usually) not care, but it's still worth
it to them to join a squad because when they die, their squad leader may be
close to some skirmish worth spawning in at.

And people like to create squads instead of joining already established
ones just so they can a squad leader and have the ability to call for
supplies - especially the snipers for when they run out of ammo. If people
join their one-man squads, these leaders could care less.

You join a server that has 10 players on each team and 8 squads with on one
person on it.

You can tell the smart ones though. I have watched some run to my supply
box, realise they didn't hear "supplies at your position" then run like
hell in the opposite direction.

Just like when you see a supply box and nothing on the mini-map -- I
hunker down and get ready to shoot some bad guys.

Although it's an extreme an example, it's not actually that daft... Although
I would recommend probably 4 squads in this case, it is useful in that as a
commander you can direct a greater number of people around the map...

What is worse, is when you have 20 v 20 and only 6 people in one squad! And
when you ask them to divide, they refuse!

So, on a 64 player server, you will need 64 jets in your world, eh? And,
there would be no ground targets to take out. I agree with the guy, I know
how to fly, but I admit I am not as good as most people but I can usually
pull a bronze if I am a plane whore but usually it gets lame to just bomb
everyone and I like to do more than that. I want to do everything, not
just fly. Besides, it is only fair to give others a chance to fly.

While I am on the subject, it would also be good strategy to take the first
two planes with inexperienced pilots at the beginning of a map, punch out
and grab two white flags for your team. The planes would respawn pretty
quick but nobody plays like that. I do it as commander sometimes just to
get a jump start on a round, and because of plane whores, they have stupid
rules like "Commander is not allowed to fly". Why not? It would seem to
me if a commander needs to get to point B from Point A, and a jet is
sitting in a hanger doing nothing (even if a noob camper is waiting), that
a commander should be allowed to haul ass to a location to do a repair or
flag grab.

Half? How about 4? What maps have more than 4 jets? Clean Sweep is the
only one I can think of with lots of jets

The OP is Australian, and, in a round about way, they speak English.

Here, here. I got in on BF2 late, got in, figured most stuff out, and haven't
played much since. I think seeing the plane and chopper campers really did it
for me. Just the same damned thing as BFV and BFV, half the team waiting for a
chopper to spawn, meanwhile doing nothing about our flags all being gone, now
the game is over we lost, hmmm...

I guess having the ranking system just makes it imperative for a young recruit
to get good at flying and rack up amazing scores, so they can advance in their
rank and be able to brag about it.

Ya know what, I judge a man by his actions not his rank. I hardly notice what
rank anyone is, just check if he's a team player or not.

I join a squad always and immediately, and the fullest one not full. If that
squad isn't being run right, or they're all goof off campers, I'm outa that
squad into the next until I find one where the Leader knows what he's doing and
keeps his squad on missions that result in a win for the team.

That's not to say I don't sometimes lay back with a sniper rifle, even then I'm
trying to aid the team by picking off machine gunners wiping up our men, sniping
flag protectors, etc.

The medics - it's such a joy to find a squad with one good medic, or better
still 2. I have found a good medic and we kept each other alive and healing the
team allowing us to take flags, what a feeling of satisfaction that is!

But I have to admit, my best role is attack. Want to ruin a sniper's day? Keep
healing all his victims.

This is a great game, but I'm still not sure the planes are a good thing. I know
I've gotten better at the AA guns and the feeling of satisfaction taking down a
plane is the best! I screw with their heads cause they come back looking for me
and I've moved to another gun.

But then the game becomes stop the plane campers, and not team warefare.

Love the latest Agent 3.3, it now allows a default sig via personas for each
newsgroup.

I guess I'm kind of missing the days when I'd go into a BFV game with a buddy
and we'd work together, usually on voice chat. BF2 has built in chat, but nobody
uses it, what's up with that?

Gotta play more BF2, maybe find a good server. Any suggestions?

Is AGB running BF2 servers? Is their webpage coming back?

I dunno, but I love that big AA tank, whatever it is, man that thing rocks.

Remember the little HumVee with the missiles in BFV? Well you really needed two
guys for that, but I don't ever remember having two guys in one, hmmm...

We just need more AA vehicles!

No, no, you should HAVE to join a squad before joining the game. Hey, just like
the real army.

Yes, and no. Sometimes it can be good, like the leader below. Other times if
it's a full and active squad, you're just pulling it down by restricting to one
less player who could really help. The bigger the squad, the better. In fact,
when I've played with a full squad that did what the good Leader said, we were
unbeatable, defending and tanking flags on half the battleefield. Two medics on
one AA gun can be great, you die you get revived, he jumps on the gun, you
revive him...

Yep, unfortunately the game is smart and supplies can be restricted so you're
reload drop never comes. Then you find yourself in the middle of nowhere and
your team has lost the game.

Exactly. Well sort of. Many times the same pilots can stay alive in the same
planes most of a game. That's actually a good thing, then the campers give up.

I've never actually been in a plane. I saw one sitting lonely for about one
second once, then a camper jumped in. He must have had to piss or something. Two
or three other guys just missed and of course proceeded to empty rounds into the
plane. This is what ruins the game.

I don't get it myself, it's like a baby who didn't get his toy taking a tantrum.

I've noticed that there's usually plenty of indication before an arty attach.
Most plane whores though are too stupid to realize when or where arty is coming
to visit. Took me awhile to realize that the voice warning me was actually
trying to keep me alive.

Why? Just because they'd be playing in a squad doesn't mean they'd be
playing *as* a squad.

You don't get a warning for *enemy* arty, which is what they were talking
about.

Just last night I played in a "squad in name only". If you weren't in a
squad they kept balancing the server by switching you around. After
three switches in 5 minutes I joined a squad in self-defense. I was
becoming afraid I'd be shooting, get team switched, and spawn just in
time to get killed by my own bullet ;-) Has that happened to anyone?

The squad leader in this squad wasn't leading, the squad members were
scattered, and then I eventually ended up as the only member and was
named best squad leader .. go figure. Reminds me of office
politics............

I like to hide from the jets. As commander, I use engineer kit and hang out
near my artillery. There is no reason to move around as commander. You
shoiuld be busy overseeing the action.
