Anybody ever got the message in the subject line when trying to launch the
game?

A link in the message then points to
http://www.securom.com/message.asp?m=module&c=5024, which tries to blame "a
Process Explorer" and it has to be shut down...

I do have Sysinternals' Process Explorer on my system (I'm not sure whether
that's what the page means by "a" process explorer), but it's not currently
running.

Goddamned copy protection doesn't provide *me*, a legitimate buyer, any
benefit. Who are these guys to tell me what I can or cannot run at the same
time as I run the game--assuming that was actually the problem?

Nobody, huh?

My only recourse so far has been to reboot my machine whenever I get
this--can't say I've noticed anything special I've been doing to actually
trigger it though.

Logging off/back in doesn't take care of it.

Well, this pretty much confirms what I was thinking.

What a user-friendly piece of software. Oh, wait--it provides me the added
benefit of preventing me from making my own backup. Terrific! Copy
protection software just keeps on giving, doesn't it?
